Why Didn’t Jaycee Dugard Ever Try To Escape?

On September 11, 2009, in CSI Report, by admin

I have been reading a lot of the news coverage, I do not understand this entire case. She lived in back yard tents and neighbors were everywhere around the property. I also read that she worked for her kidnappers at home business and even met with some of the clients personally that he dealt with!
I think it is unusual too that she seems so ‘normal’ according to her family’s reports-is this possible after all these years of capitivity that she can just rejoin society and her family without any massive psychological effects? What about the mental state of her children? I heard they never attended school, but were they home schooled or anything, I am curious to know their intellectual state, has anyone heard anything about that?

I’m sorry but there is no other explanation other than after a while she started to like whatever it is this man did to her.
I don’t feel that much sorry for her, really. She was not stuck, she was kept outside in a tent where she could have easily escaped at night when he was sleeping inside with his looney wife. She had contact with people outside, her kids had contact and she was free to go yet she stayed because, well quite frankly I think she enjoyed the sex.
    Plain and simple.

Rape/sexual abuse is perhaps the only physical crime which with time and yes even manipulation of the perpetrator, can become “acceptable” to the victim . Imagine if this convicted criminal was subjecting his victim to water boarding on electrical shocks don’t you think she would have slipped a little note to one of their business costumers?
Having said that, for the kidnapping alone he(and wife) should never see or feel freedom again.

Predators keep their victims in pure fear and control..pedophiles are the most cunning and manipulative people..living in a back yard..as a child..having children to whom you want to protect..being controlled by such a person..is very hard to understand..but she is free now along with her two children..and the road of recovery will be long and hard..

Probably because he had her “sprung”!
He had “broken her in”, and knew how to “put it down”.
It must be–after all, she had access to a telephone, and the Internet, now what other explanation is there?

stockholm syndrom doesnt mean she fell in love with the perp
it’s more a fusion of the fear of the perp, along with becoming on the “side” of the perp, a transformation that could only occur in the presence of blind fear

I think she was brainwashed and did what she had to do to survive. The poor girl was kidnapped when she was 11, probably was afraid to try and escape. The man is a loon.

  7. Paigeybe says:

She’s suspected to have developed Stockholm Syndrome over time. So she probably just didn’t want to escape and felt at home where she was.

Probably to scared , you cant even begin to imagine what happened to her.

your questions are excellent , i have been wondering all of these things , also what were they fed , did he order them a pizza every day , did they eat some kind of gruel, if she saw a hamburger would she flip out , i mean the questions are limitless
i heard the stockholm syndrome played a part here , she decided he was ok and she didnt want to escape. did she enjoy the sex, i dont know , did she like camping , i guess, i mean i could ask her 1000 questions easy.
what kind of intellect do they have.
    i mean holy smokes
the police work in this case is totally disgraceful.
i heard they are in fantastic physical condition , shows how important doctors are
and what about taxes , he should get a huge tax break for taking care of 3 dependants all this time. the government owes him thousands of dollars.

I think she enjoyed the sex and stayed for that.
But seriously, have you ever heard of Stockholm syndrome? That’s where the captive essentially falls in love with the captor and does as he commands. I doubt she is in any condition to rejoin society. Maybe that’s why she and her kids have not given any interviews etc. I daresay this is something she will never recover from. There may be some hope for her kids, but they will never be “normal” either.
