shhh! the Petit door was left unlocked. . . On July 23 2007, two paroled burglars entered a home in upper-middle class Cheshire CT through an UNLOCKED door, beat and bound the male resident, Dr. Petit, tortured and raped his wife and two daughters for six hours, then poured gasoline on the females and set them afire. Neighbors were shocked that any crime could happen there.
Three guests on Larry King’s July 30 TV show droned on about reforming parole regulations to prevent such home invasions in the future. Fine, reform the system. But remember that not all predators are paroled felons – they might well be felons already released from parole or up-and-coming young monsters with clean records. What about them?
Inexplicably, the unlocked door the killers had entered was never mentioned on Larry King (and just barely mentioned four times in hundreds of media reports). The glaring flaw in basic home security that led to the fiendish destruction of a family was glossed over as though it was a minor detail. The elephant sitting in the middle of the room was nearly invisible.
Now, had the door been locked, the invaders likely would’ve looked for other ways in, and if that failed, likely would’ve moved on to look for unlocked doors elsewhere (few doors in that naïve “safe” neighborhood were locked – as one report mentioned) and a different family likely would’ve been attacked instead.
The media also had their eyes wide shut during the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping in Salt Lake City in 2002. The kidnapper had entered through an open window (after quietly cutting the screen), yet the danger of leaving a window open, as usual, got scant attention in the massive media coverage. Since then, the father, the ironically named Ed Smart who’d recruited the Charles Manson-like panhandler/kidnapper to shingle his roof (and also left windows wide open through the night) sometimes guests on TV panel discussions (as an expert, no less) where his spectacular security blunders go politely unmentioned. How could his opinions on crime prevention possibly matter when he’s never owned up to his blunders?
Of course the media doesn’t want to “blame the victims. ” It would almost seem cruel to add insult to injury – to blame those unwitting naïf’s for contributory negligence. But, as a result, the one possible silver lining in the Petit tragedy – explicitly warning the public of possible horror from leaving doors and windows unlocked – was squandered, lost forever. We’ll never know how many future victims of such crimes might have been spared. But just the possibility of sparing even one innocent soul from such a hideous fate would be well worth the tiny effort.
Many months later, the state legislature is still trying to forge new laws to “curb” such massacres in the future, yet NO mention is made of the UNLOCKED door! And now all subsequent news media reports refer to the invasion as a “break-in” rather than the harsh truth that the primary facilitator of the massacre was a “walk-in” through an UNLOCKED door! The old adage is true: “None are so blind as those who refuse to see. ” The elephant in the middle of the room is now completely invisible.
Know this: roughly half of the 8,000-plus home intrusions daily in the US (that’s 2. 9 million annually, per the US DOJ) are “Walk-Ins” through doors and windows blithely left unlocked until bedtime or until leaving the home unoccupied. Is the invisible elephant starting to come into focus now?
Of course nobody wants to blame the victims. Those innocents were lulled into the same false sense of security that seduces most people living in the Sleepyvilles of the world. They just didn’t realize that predators far outnumber the police – and that predators have all heard how Sleepyville has poor security – where people actually brag about not locking their doors or windows!
Some particularly innocent victims leave their doors unlocked even after they’ve been invaded through unlocked doors! It’s not always easy to find sympathy for such wanton carelessness, but we must remember, after all, that they are indeed innocent victims – in both senses of the word.
Yet when some poor souls end up butchered, their murders will be bemoaned in the media – with barely a peep about their unlocked doors or windows. And on and on it goes.
Actually, it’s hard to blame and shame the news reporters for sugarcoating the cold reality. In fact, the surviving victims themselves usually are in blind denial of the blatantly obvious and brutal truth – that their contributory negligence led to such anguish. It happens more often than not in heinous crimes – it’s human nature, a coping mechanism. They probably can’t bear to admit it even to themselves – the angst would be too great.
The news reporters shudder when they see it up close and personal thus they opt for mercy on the surviving victims. Nevertheless, wouldn’t the public’s ignorance and their blasé safety attitude diminish (at least a bit) if the media regularly mentioned a brief, tactful security precaution at the end of each crime news report? Is the media too polite and too charitable to save future victims – even if it’s just one?
It’s a shame that those who’ve suffered a crime due to unlocked doors and windows had to learn such a harsh lesson the hard way. The news media could have – and should have – done a better job of warning them. Isn’t it ironic to see charity causing such inadvertent harm?
Rather than whispering the truth, the media should shout it for all to hear.
Be honest now. Do you keep all your doors and windows locked at all times? If not, re-read the above. Gamble in Vegas, not in your life.
Folklore and fables – from vampire and wolfman legends to tales of The Brothers’ Grimm – tell us of ogres, fiends, and monsters. Today we call them violent criminals. They’ve always plagued us and – as long as passions, madness, and evil exist – always will. Let’s blow away a predator’s biggest advantage: the naïveté of the prey.

Reputable companies that specialize in trauma crime scene cleanup decontamination and crime scene cleanup the scenes of crimes, homicides, suicides, accidents, unattended deaths and other trauma cleanup service are pretty darn rare – and as of today. Today, the Accelerated BioScene Cleanup, Wisconsin based crime scene cleanup company will have reliable clean-up, decontamination and remediation technicians to call on and rely on if they’re unfortunate enough to find themselves responsible for a bio-hazardous trauma or accident scene. Accelerated BioScene Cleanup provides experienced and understanding trauma crime scene cleanup decontamination and trauma cleaning service to people caught in a traumatic situation. The last thing a property manager, small business owner or grieving family wants to have to deal with is the aftermath of a crime, accident or loved one’s suicide. When they’re confronted by a trauma or accident families need to be protected and businesses need to provide for the safety of their customers and employees. Professional decontamination, removal and remediation of decomposition related hazards and other toxic material is essential. Accelerated BioScene Cleanup is a niche market within the crime scene cleaning industry. Crime and trauma scene decontamination involves cleaning up dangerous material. This could mean the biologically contaminated scene of a violent death (homicide, suicide or accidental) or the chemically contaminated scene of a methamphetamine lab or anthrax-exposure site. Crime-scene cleaners come in and restore the scene to its pre-incident state. Failure to have the biological or chemical hazards and contaminants, left behind at a crime scene, in busted covert meth lab or even by a suicide or unattended death can pose serious health risks for families, occupants, employees, and owners. That makes companies like Accelerated BioScene Cleanup quite important. To help protect businesses and business owners from california to wisconsin, Accelerated BioScene Cleanup provides reliable professional cleanup and decontamination services for a variety of sites and circumstances—ranging from crime scenes, trauma scenes, murders and homicides to suicides, accidents and even meth labs.

“Crime” is a word that invokes both fear and acceptance in society.   Statistically your chances of becoming a victim of crime in any given year are actually pretty low. I’m sure this is a great comfort to anyone who has been victimized or knows someone who has been. On the surface many crimes seem random and senseless, but when we take a look at the factors that make up a crime we see a pattern emerge. In order for a crime to occur there are three factors that must be present. They are; Motive, Opportunity and a Victim. Each of these factors plays an important role in how and why crimes occur. Two of these factors are within your control to influence. Motive is what drives the criminal to commit the crime. Motives are as individual as the criminal and beyond your ability to effectively control. Some common themes are drugs, money, sex, violence, power, domination etc. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t attempt to understand some of the social issues surrounding the psychology of crime. It just means that knowing your attacker is a crack addict with an addiction to feed is the last thing you are worrying about when he is stealing your purse at knifepoint. Opportunity and access are necessary for the criminal to commit an offence. Crime is like a business. To succeed it must have timing, location, read the market correctly and have access to potential customers. Having a good foundation in Personal Safety removes much of the potential for criminals to have access to you. Both timing and location are within your realm of control. Ensure that you always maintain good Situational Awareness. Being able to spot, assess and proactively respond to potentially dangerous situations is much simpler than having to resort to Self Defense or submission when a crime actually occurs. Victims the most important piece to the puzzle. Without a victim there is no crime. By removing yourself from the equation or at least substantially reducing your profile as a potential victim you will have the greatest impact on how crime will affect your life. This puts a lot of power and responsibility in your hands. Taking steps to reduce your desirability as a potential victim is not difficult. It does demand some education, effort and practice on your part though. You must educate yourself on what you don’t know. Contrary to popular belief, what you don’t know can hurt you. Take a course in Personal Safety and Self Defense. Learn how to develop and implement a Personal Safety Plan, then practice, practice, practice. When we teach our courses, participants are always surprised to find out that when we talk about the “Adrenal Stress Response” that there is more to adrenaline than just “Fight of Flight”. This is not incorrect, just incomplete. During times of stress or danger the human body generally has 4 available options when adrenaline kicks in. These are; Fight, Flight, Posture, Submitt. Each of these responses is common when a person is placed in a stressful or potentially dangerous situation. The fact is that everyone is affected by the “Adrenal Stress Response”. The difference is in how individuals deal with it. Each of us fits into one or more of these response types dependent upon a variety of environmental and personal factors. Adrenaline is an amazing hormone, it lets our bodies become supercharged and incredibly strong. Unfortunately it also has a dark side. Adrenaline also causes the “Freeze” response, dry mouth, rapid breathing, and extreme fatigue. Asymmetric Saturation Training is one method to reduce the effects of the “Adrenal Stress Response”. This is accomplished by systematically placing students in an Adrenal state during full contact Padded Attacker scenarios. Repeated exposure to the Adrenal Stress Response burns Self Defense techniques into the student’s neural pathways and teaches them how to survive a violent attack. This is the same method used by Peace Officers and the Military to train for the realities of combat. Fight is always the first option listed when this sequence is discussed. It is however probably the least used in these situations. The human body is hardwired against harming others of our species. It is what allows us to live in large communities without random violence and murder. The ability to use violent and sometimes lethal force to protect ourselves from harm is easy to discuss and much harder to actually do. It is important to remember though that there is a portion of the populace that doesn’t share your feelings of kindness and lack of aggression towards your fellow man. In my business we call them “Wolves”. For the terms of our discussion “Wolf” refers to criminals and other predators. Flight is the next most discussed option and in my opinion the least used or considered. It is also the most prudent and least likely to produce violent results. My philosophy has always been to run if you can and fight if you can’t. I’ve seen countless situations that have deteriorated into violence that you could have seen coming from a block away. Conversely I’ve also seen people stand back and posture when doing so was so obviously not going to go well for them. Posturing is a very successful strategy for dealing with potential violence. Many species posture to make themselves look larger and more aggressive to potential adversaries. Often posturing works as the response cost for the criminal is just too high. It is too risky to take the chance that the individual posturing is just as tough and bad as they are trying to tell you they are. If you misjudge your career as a criminal will be brief and the resultant miscalculation painful. Submitting is the fourth way that our bodies can react in a stressful or violent situation. In some cases submission has saved lives. Submission as a response to crime often has negative effects on it’s victims for years after the crime. It is important for survivors of violence to understand that no matter the circumstances that led to their attack the responsibility always lies with the perpetrator. In my world there are three types of people; Wolves, Sheep and Sheepdogs. Wolves are predators and are not afraid to harm you. It is important to know that wolves don’t play by societies rules, so expecting them to behave as anything other than large, dangerous carnivores is foolhardy. The best way to deal with a wolf is never to run across his path in the first place. Learning practical Self Defense and Personal Safety skills will go a long way to keeping you off of a wolfs radar. Sheep unfortunately represent the vast majority of society. I use this Tag because Sheep are prey. To the wolves of the world, sheep are there to be eaten. For you that means whatever personal motive that drives them to commit their crimes. Many times Sheep take the “It won’t happen to me, I live in a nice neighborhood” approach. Most times they are shocked when crime does happen in their neighborhood or affects them or someone they know in a very personal way. Sheepdogs are the last category and that is what every one of us should aspire to be. Sheepdogs are not intimidated by Wolves and will actively protect the Sheep. Wolves don’t want to mess with a Sheepdog due to the high probability of severe risk and damage to them personally. We can become Sheepdogs by educating ourselves on the societal causes of crime and learning the skill sets necessary to protect ourselves and our families from the wolves at the door. And like a good Sheepdog we also need to learn the skills to deal with the Wolf when no other option presents itself. Amazon. comThe seventh season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is as solid as any of the series’ previous years. The stories are strong, the actors share potent chemistry, and the characters are believable because they are flawed human beings. This year, CSI delves into the complicated romance between head investigator Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and his underling Sara Sidle (Jorga Fox). The two are reticent to let their colleagues in on their relationship, and the season finale offers a gasp-inducing prospect of their future together. Earlier on, though, there’s even a bit of a triangle when Sara learns about Gil’s prior romance with dominatrix Lady Heather (Melinda Clarke). The normally steely Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) faces her own dilemmas when she wakes up in a motel room, unsure if she has been sexually assaulted. And fellow CSI Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) finds himself the victim of a gang beating after he witnesses a brutal attack. In a nice homage to the Who–whose song “Who Are You” serves as the theme song for the series–singer Roger Daltrey makes a guest appearance in an episode called “Living Legend. ” Daltrey portrays a man who may or may not be responsible for a series of modern-day murders–even though he reportedly had died in the 1970s. The Who frontman, who has some acting credits under his belt, is perfect playing an enigmatic (and possibly crazy) man who is never quite what he seems. Throughout the season, Grissom and Co. are plagued by a serial killer who taunts the CSIs with clues left at the scene of the crime, whose calling card is a series of painstaking miniatures replicating his atrocities. The season finale deals with the Miniature Killer going after one of the CSIs. Whether the investigator lives or dies won’t be known until the eighth season, but it’s a breathtaking finale befitting this quality drama. –Jae-Ha Kim

Crime is a reality in our society. It has been around in the past, it’s around now, and it will continue to be around in the future. It can be controlled or reduced, but not eliminated. It isn’t something you have to look for. It tends to find you. All you need to do is take a jog, walk to your car, make an unexpected stop or have a breakdown while traveling, or just merely be at home at the wrong time. It is a part of life. The authorities are very helpful most of the times, but unfortunately, they normally appear on the scene after you have already become a victim. That’s all they can do. There is no way anyone can predict when or how a person may become a victim. The only thing that we can do in society is take our chances, play the odds, and do what we can to legally defend ourselves. Keep Yourself Safer By Being Knowledgeable On the other hand, when you are prepared and have information, you navigate through life with confidence. Even if you are not conscious of what you know, it comes to you in time of need. Just as in the case of a trained police officer or kung fu master, they don’t have to think about what to do in a challenging situation; everything comes to them instinctively when the occasion requires it. This is where you want to be. Your physical and mental well being is the most important things that can exist. There is nothing of greater value, including money and whatever it can command. There are many people who have failed to take notice of this fact, and now, would give up everything they have worked so hard for just to be safe and well again. Our featured book, How To Protect Yourself From Crime, is an excellent place to start your journey on crime protection knowledge. It is the most complete guide to crime protection ever written. The author is the president of one of the world’s largest security service companies. This valuable guide will show you and your family how to protect yourself from violent crimes, as well as how to be safe at home, on the road, at work, and on vacation. It also provides information on corporate and customer security. This is a very valuable book that you should not be without. Go to our shopping cart and order your copy right now. You will be glad you did. Keep Yourself Safer With A Tiny Stun Gun A stun gun is a small electrical device with two short electrodes extending from its surface. It can fit into the palm of your hand. When switched on, it generates a very high voltage but little or no amperage. Low amperage is the reason they are non-lethal and unable to electrocute anyone. A stun gun can reduce your chances of becoming a successful crime victim by instantly immobilizing an attacker. Upon the electrodes of a switched on stun gun touching an attacker, the high voltage immediately causes the attacker’s blood sugar to convert to lactic acid. This chemical reaction instantly depletes the attacker’s muscle energy. The attacker is left without enough strength to move. In addition and at the same time, the attacker’s neurological impulses which directs and controls muscle movement is interrupted. The attacker loses balance, becomes confused, and can no longer stand. The attacker is rendered completely immobile for five to 15 minutes. This should give you adequate time to get to safety. Our stun guns are of high quality and each sold with a limited warranty. You should not be without one. Reduce your chances of becoming a successful victim by going to our shopping cart and ordering now. Keep Yourself Safer With Pepper Spray Pepper spray will reduce your chances of becoming a successful crime victim by overwhelming and taking the fight out of an attacker. It allows you to defend yourself from a distance. A one to three second burst to the face of an attacker will cause temporary blindness, choking, coughing, an intense burning sensation, and a loss of balance. It keeps an attacker disabled for three to 10 minutes. This should give you sufficient time to get to safety. The best self-defense position to be in is to buy both, the stun gun and pepper spray. Pepper spray can be used from a distance, and if necessary, the stun gun up close to finish the deal. Don’t delay. Go to our shopping cart and order now. Buy Some of Our Other Unique Products When getting in or out of your car, a key chain alarm will sound off a high pitch blast to frighten off an aggressor. A diversion safe in the form of an electrical surge protector, clock or wall receptacle can be used to hide valuables from burglars. Our spy glasses allow you to see behind yourself when walking in dangerous areas. Tap and recorder detectors alert you to your telephone being bugged or someone secretly recording your telephone conversation. Money detectors prevent you from getting counterfeit bills. Recently in Atlanta, a truck driver went into a bank and cashed his check. He walked outside and discovered that the bank had given him counterfeit money. He went back in and was told that since he walked out before calling it to somebody’s attention; he cannot now prove that the bank gave him the fake bills. Needless to say, he’s doomed. If he had a money detector, a quick swipe across the bills at the counter would have saved him a lot of grief. As with everything else in life, there are two kinds of criminals, smooth and rugged. Smooth criminals are highly regarded in your community and specialize in disingenuous ways of taking your money. Rugged criminals are direct and dangerous. In addition to taking your money, they reach for your life. No matter what kind of criminal you are confronted by, your primary duty is to protect yourself. You are all you got. If you’re not around, you can’t be generous or helpful to others. There is a new way of restating an old philosophy. The old point of view states that you should shoot first and ask questions later. The high tech and more softer way of restating the old view is, “ When I’m right I’m right, when I’m wrong I’m still right because I could be wrong by thinking that I’m not right”. In other words, don’t take any chances. This philosophy may be a little bit extreme, but if you dampen it down and put a small spin on it, you will find that the general concept will carry you a long way. Pepper spray is a non-lethal non-toxic inflammatory aerosol spray. It disperses in the form of a stream, fogger, or foam. The stream squirts out like a water gun; the foam spurts out like shaving crème; and the fogger scatters out in a mist. If you are ever confronted by an attacker, having knowledge on how to respond to the situation could save your life. A lack of information breeds vulnerability. You will be overcome with fear, your mind shuts down, and you are unable to consider options. End results, you’re on your way to becoming a successful victim. Technically, anyone who is criminally assaulted is a crime victim. A successful crime victim however, is one who does not survive an attack without having been robbed, raped, beaten, murdered, or otherwise successfully assaulted. We are in the business of educating and helping people reduce their chances of becoming successful crime victims. We do this by selling books and personal security products. Our products are non-lethal. We do not support or advocate severe or lethal injury to anyone. But we do tolerate a little pepper in the eye, or a couple of dot size burns on the body of a criminal who attempts to violate an innocent party. That is a small price for a would-be-criminal to pay, especially when the consequences of the perpetrator’s conduct can rip somebody’s life and peace of mind apart.

The stories are solid, shared the chemistry powerful actors and the characters are credible because they are people poor. This year, CSI plunges into the complex romance between the lead investigator Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara sidle his subordinates (Jorga Fox). Both are willing to let their colleagues about their relationship, and the final season offers a perspective CFSP Inductors their future together. Before that, there is still a small triangle when Sarah on romance, before Gil dominatrix Lady Heather (Melinda Clarke). The principle Steel Catherine Willows meets (Marg Helgenberger) faces his own dilemma when she wakes up in a motel room not knowing whether she was sexually abused. CSI and colleagues Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) finds himself the victim of a gang after the game witnessed a brutal attack. Another new year and a further variant of the old Nigerian Scam Scam serious forms of organized economic crime. Over the years, will I have promised, then promised a 50% to $ 50,000,000 fortune of a Nigerian bank in the late prince’s daughter left that I have to sign some papers and simply travel to Nigeria to collect the money from the Bank. I do not know what I wear to the economy of Nigeria’s man to my self-appointed Finance Minister has to be a pimp, but if I do not meet on their first offering, my could, he took on him to offer many other different tranches of cash of $ 10,000 .000 £ 100,000.00. It kept informed me by e-mail I have just a princess, or the family to save a deceased ruler, and I can half of the immense power of the pocket. And the bonus is this guy is a master of business and marketing, although his doctoral work in marketing comes from “the school of hard knocks criminal gangs,” he said understands the need for persistence. be spent, it includes also the mentality of Western business people occupied and reduce downtime in Nigeria. In these uncertain times is a better guarantee that Lehman Brothers, Northern Rock. Over the years, my self-proclaimed pimp financing even gracious me to his brothers and sisters, all introduced communicated with me as fantastic multi-million dollars. How friendly is that it is clearly looking for a productive networker company to develop its own business of affiliate marketing. It’s amazing how this family can identify if there are many people willing to part with 50% of the legacies of several million dollars if I have my bank details and travel in Nigeria. Waiting for reply reegardes Best, Daniel KusoIf I am aware, one thing is that my Mac is to finance a beacon of hope for how small businesses can thrive and grow worldwide in a relatively short period of time. He has clearly learned from the University of serious organized crime, financial scam curriculum. His professorship at the University of cases of criminal gang must have taught him that everything is about marketing research of your potential customers and building long-term relationship with them. Nigeria scams, what a company, and global expansion. Finance My Mac now has offices in Nigeria, Chad, Congo, Niger, Sudan and Somalia. I have no doubt that he received with great success and the masses of the Innovation Award of companies, was able to expand their activities in the non-right on the African continent. If only the agency of serious forms of organized crime have the resources necessary for global expansion in a relatively short period of time. On a more serious note, I am an expert in British American Security, a security specialist known and provided my services in 42 countries with many entrepreneurs and executives. All that led to work in politically unstable regions and war zones. It is clear that the above is a financial fraud by organized crime syndicates or sometimes disorganized and dysfunctional that come from Nigeria. You might have read the above and looked, but this type of financial fraud has built a solid foundation of greed, and unfortunately, many people are reasonable from a commercial greed. I know that the different variants of this study financial fraud. Some years ago I think a VIP service for the protection of business leaders in Georgia, USA, when I learned that two of them were taken on the offering of $ 25,000,000 when she flew to Nigeria after their bank details. I had directed a great experience of financial scams in particular several other issues that virtually all work safety experts invites Nigeria scams. I think these two smart business people to cancel their visit a few hours before her plane left, but too late to stop their bank accounts below. Have you heard the expression, if it looks like a duck and it looks like a duck, then it is a duck? It still looks like a fraud and economic crime, gangsters still sounds like a crime of financial fraud gang, so it is nothing more than a financial fraud transnational crime. There are disadvantages to provide your bank details to a stranger, then to Nigeria. Ideally, you bring the victim of identity theft and bank your finances will be attacked. Depending on the scenario is that you may ransom disadvantages are removed. In the worst case, you can run to cover the tracks of the criminals. Anyway, you obviously lose. Not for one moment that this does not happen to you, or someone you know.
