Assembly approves $20-million settlement with kidnapping victim Jaycee Dugard
The state Assembly Thursday approved a $20-million settlement for Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped and held captive for 18 years. State justice officials have recommended paying the settlement, which still must be approved by the state Senate.

Just how hard was she really trying to get away? Maybe I’m missing something here, but this just don’t sound right! 18 years and she says nothing?! There were neighbors that reported to the police that they thought that someone was being held in the backyard against their will. Police dropped the ball on that by not investigating the reports. (Her parents should sue their pants off.) But couldn’t this Jaycee go to the neighbors and say look, these criminals kidnapped me! Now here she is a grown woman and two kids later . I think the kidnapper and his stupid wife should be put under the jail for life. Why would any self respecting woman stay with a dog who impregnated another woman who lives at YOUR house ?! Well the self respecting woman obviously ain’t her! There’s so much of this perverted sick stuff going on right here in this country!

I have been reading a lot of the news coverage, I do not understand this entire case. She lived in back yard tents and neighbors were everywhere around the property. I also read that she worked for her kidnappers at home business and even met with some of the clients personally that he dealt with!
I think it is unusual too that she seems so ‘normal’ according to her family’s reports-is this possible after all these years of capitivity that she can just rejoin society and her family without any massive psychological effects? What about the mental state of her children? I heard they never attended school, but were they home schooled or anything, I am curious to know their intellectual state, has anyone heard anything about that?

For those who have not heard (I can’t imagine how that could be), Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped 18-years ago and held by this man and his wife in their backyard compound of tents and a porta potty. According to the news, most of the time the child was required to live in a box. She bore two of her kidnapper’s children at the home, the first one at the age of 14.

i USE to be all pro-life and even gived a speech against the death penalty but this case has made me rethink it. i think the guy should have his d*ick cut off in the public, because that’s what he used to rape this poor little girl. then he should be hanged. the women, first i think its sad that a women would stand there or even be part of raping a little girl. i think she should be hanged. i feel so sad for this girl, she missed out on her youth and i hope she can one day recover from this.
i know i should let God do the judging but this man deserves the worst of hell. i’m going to pray for jaycee and her family tonight, please pray for them as well. God Bless/

So this week in the news alot has been the story of Jaycee Dugard, who was kept captive for 18 years and sexually abused, having 2 kids in the process. In one of our papers, there was an article at the side about Madeleine McCanns parents, who say this story gives them hope that Maddie is out there and not to give up etc. And I came across the view that if Maddie was your daughter, some people would rather she had died, than be going through hell like that. What is your opinion? If you were in the McCanns position, would you rather she had died than go through that, or cling on to that hope she might be alive and maybe see her again in the future? I thought it was an interesting view and wanted to know your opinions, thanks

On the news recently is this guy, Phillip Garrido, who kidnapped and raped Jaycee Lee Dugard fifteen years ago (and was recently reunited with her family). Anyway, the guy recorded some songs before his arrest, and some of them are kinda creepy.
